The visual style of Mantle was inspired by Japan’s Provoke era in the 1960s, where images are rough, disorderly and blurred.
Drawing themes from The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, Mantle aims to explore the ideas behind consciousness. No matter the results of anything, the feelings of suffering are somehow extraordinary. No matter feelings of disgust, pain or extreme euphoria and ecstasy, all we can do is capitulate to become its thrall, accepting it.

“But look closely and you will find that your thinking and behaviour are designed to keep the pain going, for yourself and others. If you were truly conscious of it, the pattern would dissolve, for to want more pain is insanity, and nobody is consciously insane.”
– Eckhart Tolle
